An estate manager oversees the property and those working on it, reporting to the chief of staff when required. Their responsibilities may include:

Supervising household staff and evaluating their performance on a regular basis
Managing payroll, setting annual budgets and coordinating the scheduled use of facilities by employees
Handling contract negotiations with vendors, contractors and other parties

During contract negotiations, the estate manager will take care to protect the best interests of the property owner.
